New homes for St Paul’s
Published: Tuesday 26th January 2010
We are pleased to announce that the plans for the regeneration of part of the St Paul’s area of Cheltenham have been approved by Cheltenham Borough Council.
This is fantastic news for the area, and would not have happened
without the hard work and support of the residents, the architects, CBC
officers and councillors, police, Gloucestershire County Council
Highways Officers and the St Paul's Regeneration Team.
Planning permission was granted in December for CBH to build 48 new affordable homes. The proposal also includes the provision of a new purpose-built community facility for the area, and external improvements to existing houses in Manser Street and Hudson Street that sit either side of the area where the new homes will be built.
The new properties are a mixture of 1 and 2 bedroom flats, and 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses. They will be available to people who can't afford to buy or rent a property on the open market. The properties will be mixed tenure to encourage a mix of new residents - both traditional social rented properties and the new Government initiative Rent to Homebuy will be available. The next steps will be to choose the developer for this important project - this will happen in January 2010. We are working with residents in choosing the right developer.
